What you’ll need before you start
Before you start, you'll need your mobile phone and a valid ID. We accept either your British Passport, UK Driving licence, National ID card and if you’re not a UK national, a Biometric residency permit. You also need your National Insurance number, a valid email address and UK mobile phone number.
The application process
Step 1: Download our Mobile App
Search for ‘Glasgow Credit Union’ on the App Store or Google Play Store, then download and install the app to get started.
Step 2: Email Verification & Eligibility
Once the app is installed, you’ll be asked to verify your email address and complete some eligibility checks to ensure you can join.
Step 3: Mobile Number & Personal Details
Next, we’ll ask for your mobile number, personal details, and a linked bank account—this helps us securely set up your membership.
Step 4: ID Verification
To keep your account secure, we’ll carry out a quick online biometric check, which involves uploading a photo of your ID and taking a selfie to verify your identity.
Step 5: Contribution & financial goals
We’ll ask you to set up your regular savings contributions and tell us about your financial goals—so we can help you build the financial future you want.
Step 6: Marketing & Communication Preferences
Finally, you can set your marketing and communication preferences to control how you hear from us.
Step 7: Enable login with Face ID
For quick and secure access, you’ll be given the option to enable Face ID login on supported devices.
Step 8: Logging In & Viewing Your Dashboard
Once logged in, you’ll be taken straight to your dashboard, where you can view and manage your Glasgow Credit Union account.
That’s it! Once you've completed these steps, you can enjoy all the benefits of Glasgow Credit Union membership.
