All credit unions have a common bond which its members must meet in order to join. Glasgow Credit Union’s common bond requires members, at the point of their membership application, to be resident or employed in our geographical common bond (G, FK, PA, ML, KA postcodes); be employed in the UK by one of our Common Bond Employers or be a member of a bonafide organisation listed in our Rulebook. The common bond for membership only applies at the point of joining and members do not need to continue to meet this criteria after initial qualification.
Common Bond Employers, Bonafide Organisations and Employer Partners
We work with multiple partner organisations who encourage their employees or members to join and use our products and services.
Common Bond Employer Partners
Some organisations are listed in our Rulebook as Common Bond Employers. These are generally larger employers that operate out with our geographical common bond and being listed in our Rulebook permits their employees to become a credit union members without meeting the geographical element of our common bond.
All Employer Partners have agreed to enable their employees to contribute regularly to their credit union accounts, on becoming members and if they choose to, direct from their salary and to maintain membership via this means, members must agree to save at least £10 from salary.

Bonafide Organisations
In addition to our Rulebook listing of Common Bond Partners, where we permit employees of an organisation to become a member, we also list other membership-based organisations whose members are eligible to join our credit union.
