Tell us someone has died

Sorting out the financial affairs of a loved one whilst your grieving can be difficult. We are here to support you and hope this guide will help you through this difficult time. Our team are happy to talk it all through if anything isn't clear.

Notify us

You can notify us of a death by completing this form or by calling us on 0141 274 9933. Anyone can notify us of a death, but we can only discuss the account and take instructions from the deceased person's Personal Representative or Executor once we have seen a copy of the death certificate. Once you notify us, we'll send you an information pack to explain what we'll need to see in order to close the credit union account.

What happens next?

We'll place the account on hold and stop future transactions immediately. We won't begin the account settlement process until we receive a copy of the death certificate and clarification of who is Personal Representative or Executor. Once a certified copy of the death certificate and the Will (If applicable) has been obtained, the Personal Representative or Executor should make an appointment to meet with us to discuss the deceased person's account and our account closure process.

Meeting with us

Details of how to arrange an appointment are contained in the information pack we'll send to you. At the meeting, we'll review the death certificate and Will, complete any additional account closure processes and answer any questions that you may have.  We'll advise you if there are any Nominations or insured benefits in place on the account and start the process to settle the account.
